People Who Clap When the Plane Lands

Because nothing says “I doubted basic aviation” like spontaneous applause.

People Who Clap When the Plane Lands

There’s a special breed of traveler who believes every commercial landing is a miracle worthy of standing ovation. These are the people who erupt into polite, sometimes enthusiastic, applause the moment rubber hits runway like they just witnessed the second coming–of Delta Airlines.

1. They treat landing like we all just survived “Cast Away.”

2. The pilot is just doing their job–not headlining Coachella.

3. Clapping in a flying metal tube feels more cult than cute.

4. They also clap at movies, which explains a lot.

5. One guy always tries to start the slow clap. It never catches on. Ever.

6. You can feel the flight attendants cringe in the galley.

7. Applauding the landing is like thanking your microwave every time it dings.

8. These people definitely believe turbulence builds character.

9. They make eye contact, hoping you’ll join in. Stay strong.

10. They gasp during takeoff like it’s SpaceX.

11. It’s not gratitude–it’s performative relief mixed with jet lag.

12. The only time clapping is acceptable is if the plane lands on water and everyone survives.

13. You’re not a studio audience. Sit down, Stephanie.

14. They clap like they personally coached the pilot through the descent.

15. Next they’ll hand out Oscars to the baggage handlers.
