People Who Think They’re Off the Grid But Still Post on Instagram
Somewhere deep in the woods–between the composting toilet and the solar-powered WiFi router–lives a breed of person who insists they’ve “left society behind.” They post about it… constantly.
1. They caption photos “off the grid” while tagging the GPS location of their eco-yurt.
2. Their cabin has no electricity, except for that glowing MacBook in the corner.
3. They do “digital detoxes” every weekend–after scheduling 14 Instagram posts in advance.
4. They harvest rainwater and likes with equal enthusiasm.
5. They say things like “I don’t use modern conveniences” while recording a TikTok on their iPhone 15 Pro Max.
6. Their idea of hunting is scrolling Etsy for cruelty-free elk jerky.
7. They burn sage to cleanse the energy, then Venmo their shaman.
8. They built their cabin “by hand” but actually hired a crew named Todd and Chad from Craigslist.
9. They think being off the grid means switching to almond milk and living within 50 feet of a Whole Foods.
10. They “unplug” by switching their phone to airplane mode during meditation for 6 minutes.
11. They have a chicken coop but still Postmates oat milk lattes.
12. They say “I live simply” while wearing a $400 linen jumpsuit from a brand called “Ethical Ferret.”
13. They make their own soap but only bathe in content validation.
14. Their dog has more followers than you. And a flannel bandana.
15. Their solar panels power a blender for “intentional smoothies.”
