Bad Selfies

Bad Selfies: Because Shame Deserves a Filter Too

Bad selfies are the reason the front camera was invented–to humble you with brutal honesty. You flip it open and instantly look like a goblin caught in mid-sneeze. The lighting says “crime scene,” and your forehead has its own weather system.

Ever try to take a “candid” selfie? Nothing says “I’m naturally relaxed” like 46 takes, 17 filters, and a neck cramp that requires physical therapy. I once tried a duck face and ended up looking like a confused platypus with unresolved trauma.

Bathroom selfies are their own genre of disaster. One hand holding the phone, the other awkwardly clutching a towel, and your shampoo bottles photobombing like product placement for anxiety. Bonus points if the toilet seat is up and your cat’s watching judgmentally in the mirror.

Group selfies? Even worse. There’s always one person blinking, another mid-blink, and someone’s uncle photobombing from the grill. You can crop it, filter it, rotate it–and still everyone looks like they’re auditioning for a horror remake of “The Office.”

And let’s talk angles. From above, you look like a wide-eyed squirrel. From below, it’s security cam footage of a cryptid ordering a sandwich. There is no middle ground, only disappointment and chin shadows.

But hey, bad selfies are a rite of passage. If you haven’t accidentally airdropped one to a stranger on the subway, are you even living? Snap on, cringe later, and remember: confidence is the best filter. But Facetune helps.
