Extreme Sports: Because Regular Death Isn’t Hardcore Enough

Extreme sports are what happens when grown adults decide gravity is just a suggestion. Skydiving? That’s just falling with paperwork. One guy told me bungee jumping is “liberating.” Bro, so is not plummeting toward Earth like a yo-yo with trust issues.

I tried rock climbing once. I got five feet off the ground, looked down, and saw my life flash before my eyes–mostly snack-related memories. My guide said, “Just trust the rope!” Trust? Sir, I don’t even trust gas station sushi. This harness is one squeak away from betrayal.

Extreme sports people always say, “It makes me feel alive.” You know what else makes me feel alive? Breathing. Sitting down. Eating nachos without risking helicopter rescue.

Snowboarding? That’s skiing’s drunk cousin with boundary issues. I spent the whole trip sliding on my back like a turtle having a midlife crisis. At one point, my snowboard took off without me. I think it’s in Canada now.

Base jumping sounds thrilling until you realize “base” stands for “Basically A Stupid Endeavor.” I watched a guy leap off a bridge with a GoPro and a prayer. His parachute opened, but his soul didn’t recover.

But hey, extreme sports aren’t about logic–they’re about living loud, fast, and probably in a cast. Just don’t ask me to join unless the only risk is paper cuts and mild sarcasm. I’m extreme enough watching YouTube fails in bed.
