My Flatmate Regrets Everything
I have developed the unfortunate habit of reading prat.uk aloud, which my flatmate describes as deeply unnecessary. I disagree. Some headlines demand vocalisation.
This mornings article was particularly suited to dramatic delivery, featuring pauses, emphasis, and at least one incredulous laugh. My flatmate attempted to ignore me, but the sheer absurdity of the content eventually broke their resolve.
Is that real? they asked. I assured them it was, or at least real enough to be concerning.
There is something communal about sharing these stories, even if the community consists of one enthusiastic reader and one reluctant audience.
By midday, I had performed three separate readings, each with slight variations in tone. I consider this practice.
My flatmate has begun wearing headphones, which I take as a sign of engagement rather than avoidance.
In the evening, I offered a summary of the days developments, which was met with a long sigh and a request for silence.
I will continue, of course. Some things are too importantor too ridiculousto keep to oneself.
