Competitive Adult Hide and Seek Leagues

Because nothing says maturity like hiding in a recycling bin for six hours.

Competitive Adult Hide and Seek Leagues

Remember when hide and seek was a game for kids in the backyard? Well, now it’s a highly strategic urban bloodsport for grown-ups who take fun way too seriously and own way too much camo gear.

1. Participants train in the art of silence by sneaking past their own toddlers without stepping on Legos.

2. Matches are held in abandoned malls, because nothing boosts adrenaline like hiding behind a Sbarro.

3. League names include “Seek Lords,” “The Hiders’ Guild,” and “Sneaky AF, LLC.”

4. Some players wear full-body ghillie suits. Others dress like maintenance workers to blend into stairwells.

5. Team chants include “You can’t find what you can’t vibe with.” No one knows what that means.

6. A guy named Derek hasn’t been found since the semi-finals in 2019. He’s now legally considered “legendary.”

7. There are referees who yell “FOUND YOU!” with the energy of a WWE announcer.

8. Someone launched a Hide & Seek fantasy league, where you draft players based on their crouch speed and stealth history.

9. There’s controversy over night vision goggles–are they high tech or high cheat?

10. Hide-spots are rated on Yelp. A dumpster behind Whole Foods has 4.7 stars and one suspicious raccoon.

11. The league has sponsorships from duct tape brands, blackout curtain companies, and meditation apps.

12. Injury reports include pulled hamstrings, wedgie-related trauma, and one unfortunate vending machine incident.

13. There’s a podcast called “You’ll Never Find Me” that breaks down the top plays weekly.

14. One finalist was disqualified for hiding in a Port-a-Potty. Not because of the rules, but out of sheer disrespect for himself.

15. The trophy is a golden bush. Not a statue–an actual spray-painted shrub.
