Talent scouts are the mysterious unicorns of showbiz–part critic, part myth, all clipboard. You enter the audition with hope in your chest and jazz hands on your soul. They nod. They scribble. They say nothing. You cry internally and tap dance harder.
There’s always one scout who wears sunglasses indoors and says things like “It factor” while sipping coffee like it’s an audition of its own. You want their approval more than oxygen. You smile too wide. You forget the second verse. You start singing the national anthem in French. Improvisation!
The auditions are chaos. A child does karate to opera. A man plays spoons like his rent depends on it. Someone sings Adele with the emotional intensity of a blender on high. You follow that with a monologue about cheese. The scout nods. You have no idea what that means.
Afterward, you replay every second in your mind like a courtroom drama. Did they laugh? Was it pity? Did they write “promising” or “please never again”? You’ll never know. But your mom says you crushed it, so that’s legally binding.
Talent scouts are intimidating, enigmatic, and weirdly thrilling. You leave exhausted, exhilarated, and clutching your dignity like a prop. You didn’t get discovered, but you got a story–and maybe that’s talent enough. For now.
